Bahrain Air appoints PPSA in Bangladesh

-A Monitor Report Dhaka : Bahrain Air has appointed Messrs JetAge Air Services Ltd as the preferred passenger sales agent (PPSA) for Bangladesh. An agreement to this effect was signed in Dhaka recently. The new PPSA was introduced before a gathering of top travel agents at a function at Dhaka Regency Hotel and Resort in the city on April 12. Captain Ahmed M Yaquby, Chief Operating Officer, Bahrain Air, formally introduced the new PPSA. Speaking on the occasion, Captain Yaquby sought cooperation of the local travel agents and urged upon them to extend support and cooperation to the PPSA, alongside the GSA. The function was addressed, among others, by Majeed Maarij, Senior Sales Manager, Levant, Africa Asia, Bahrain Air and Shamshad Ahsan, Chief Executive Officer, JetAge. Bahrain Air started operations to Bangladesh with a non-stop flight on March 16 and currently operates three direct flights a week between Dhaka and Bahrain. Soon it plans to add two more frequencies, subject to approval by CAAB. Bahrain Air was incorporated on July 2, 2007 as a closed Bahraini Shareholding Company BSC and is the first privately owned national carrier of Bahrain. The airline flew to Dubai, its first destination on February 3, 2008. Bahrain Air was structured to fill a market niche for an airline with safe, affordable and flexible services; offering Premium and Economy Class service to the business community and general public. The airline operates new fleet of A319 configured in 12 Premium Class and 120 Economy Class seats and A320 configured in 12 Premium Class Seats and 150 Economy Class Seats. Besides Dhaka and Dubai, the airline also flies to Damascus, Beirut, Baghdad, Najaf, Amman, Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh, Doha, Mumbai, Mashad, Kathmandu, Kochi, Kozhikode (Calicut), Khartoum. Sharm El Sheikh (seasonal). Flights to Alexandria will be operatied soon.
