Bangkok Airways to operate flights to Dhaka from March end

-A Monitor Report Dhaka : Bangkok Airways, the privately-owned Thai airline, will start Dhaka-Bangkok flights very soon, the local representatives of the airline said. A senior official of Jupiter Logistics, the GSA of the airline in Bangladesh, said that recently they were expecting the launching of the flights by the end of March. 'We are completing procedures for attaining different permissions from the local authorities and expect that Bangkok Airways flights will be launched on the Dhaka-Bangkok route by the end of March,' the official said. Earlier, Vice-President of Bangkok Airways, Nandhika Varavan, disclosed that from March 27, the airline would operate seven flights a week on the route, using an Airbus A320 with 162 seats-all Economy Class. The airline expects the bulk of passengers will be Bangladeshi traders visiting Thailand, she added. Jupiter officials said medical and leisure tourists would also be their target passengers as they will offer exclusive and competitive packages. Parent company of Bangkok Airways owns a big hospital in Bangkok and the airline exclusively lands on at least three Thai islands that are tourist hotspots. Established in 1989 and known as Asia's Boutique Airline, Bangkok Airways has one and a half dozens of aircraft in its fleet. Bangladeshi passengers can have Bangkok Airways' transit flights to destinations including Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.
